Professionalism

"Teachers recognize, participate in, and contribute to teaching as a profession."

Artifact (as evidence of meeting standard)

I want to start off my saying that I see teaching as a very worthwhile profession. I also feel that it is one of of the most noble professions, one in which can have significant changes coming to the world each time the bell rings and students leave the room. That being said, I view professionalism as the act of being engaged in professional behaviors. I also view learning as a lifelong process. Combining these views together brings me to define professionalism as the behaviors that enhance my abilities to reconstruct my instruction on a periodic basis. I feel that my passions for history, as well as teaching will allow me to constantly strive towards gaining more knowledge of the content and the profession in general. This will constantly shape and mold the reasons of why I want to teach, as well as have a significant hand in overhauling my rationale. It will allow me to change the angles in which my students, as well as my self analyze the issues that make examining the social studies presents. I hope to always be proactive at making my classroom more conducive for good teaching, not just for my sake, but for all that walk through my classroom door.
